Today is my 25th wedding anniversary. Honestly, I never thought I'd be married this long. It's funny, but it seems like yesterday that I got married and I am more in love with my husband today than I ever dreamed I could be! Who knew?

One of the things that we like to do every year for our anniversary is renew our vows. It's amazing how each year is so special. You would think that those vows you said when you were young and in love would seem stale as you age. No, no, no. In fact, they grow and mature with you. They become MORE meaningful. I love to hear my husband tell me he will love, honor and cherish me until we are parted by death. I need to hear that more now than ever. Death does not seem so far away as it once did. The older I get, the more I treasure our time together and those little words of love and encouragement. When I look in the mirror and wish I was younger, my husband is there to tell me I am beautiful to him.

I encourage all of you to renew your vows if you can. You do not need a priest or pastor to do it, although we've done that most of the time. We've also dragged our kids along - what a testimony. But this year we've decided to create our own vows and just recite them to each other. 25 years will be memorable.
